Welcome Chanel Barnes!

This month, Robin Wilson Educational Consulting LLC (RWEC) is excited to welcome are first social media manager intern. Chanel Alana Barnes is a current third year student at the University of Michigan. Chanel joins RWEC as a lead talent to create strategic and engaging social media content that advances the mission of our company.

Chanel has held important leadership roles such as Vice President for Kindness in Numbers, a mental health organization advocating for mental health resources within marginalized communities; Co-Chaplain for Michigan Gospel Chorale, a faith-based organization spreading love through ministry and music; and a Facilitator for Pretty Brown Girl, a non-profit organization that promotes self-confidence and leadership development for girls of color. Chanel has received high honors including being highlighted for Women’s History Month on the official University of Michigan Instagram page.

In her professional life, Chanel has led and created videos to promote the 2020-21 University of Michigan’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion annual Summit that reached over 11k U-M students. Currently, she holds the responsibility for curating social media posts centered around holistic wellbeing at Wolverine Wellness, a U-M program dedicated to providing well-being resources to students on campus. In this position, she can communicate with numerous communications departments at the University of Michigan, to help create and think of innovative ways to reach the U-M community ethically, reaching the whole U-M community.

In her personal life, Chanel loves to take notes of the small things that inspire her within her day. She loves being creative and allowing her light to shine through her work of art including spoken word, storytelling, fashion, and writing. She is passionate about seeking change within communities that are often overseen by bringing people's voices and stories to life. Chanel believes that everyone's voice deserves to be heard, and through communication efforts, she will make that happen.
